For her Feast Day on January 23 “Making  Spirits Bright” event we again invited local service organizations to come to the museum and meet potential volunteers and donors, giving them a platform to share their missions. Twelve different organizations were represented including David’s Refuge, ARISE and CancerConnects.

Kate Mahoney participated in the Los Angeles Religious Education Conference, representing the shrine and museum. She also traveled to Hawaii for the second Damien/Marianne conference and we made arrangements for her to stay in Kalaupapa for a couple of days where she recorded excerpts from Sister Leopoldina’s journals at relevant locations for use in future exhibits.

In 2018 we kicked off  “Her Light Still Shines” campaign. The image and messaging represent the continued legacy of Saint  Marianne in individuals and organizations that care for the outcasts of today’s society.

The annual brick  blessing in the Saint  Marianne garden took  place in May, coinciding  with St. Joseph’s wellness week and we added one of  many talks and book signings by Kate Mahoney
